Plasmodium malariae

• Thin blood film, Giemsa stained
• Early trophozoite- "Ring form" containing a reddish
  chromatin "dot" and blue cytoplasm "ring"
• Note infected red cell is smaller in size than uninfected red cell,
  otherwise look normal
