Chiang Mai Medical Journal (Formerly Chiang Mai Medical Bulletin) is an of fi cial journal of the Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University. It accepts original papers on clinical and experimental research that are pertinent in the biomedical sciences. The Journal is published 4 issues/year (quarterly). Original articles, short communication, case reports, review article, letters to the Editor and miscellany are welcome. All manuscripts submitted to Chiang Mai Medical Journal must not have been previously published (except in abstract form) or under consideration for publication elsewhere. Following publication, Chiang Mai Medical Journal reserves the copyright of all published materials and such materials may not be reproduced in any form without written permission from Chiang Mai Medical Journal. We strongly recom-mend that authors follow the guideline in manuscript preparation below. Failure to comply with the instruction will result in delay the processing of your paper.

Manuscript preparation |
Submission a manuscript should include the following items:
- A cover letter: Submit a cover letter indicating the type of the manuscript you submitted.
Also indicate that the manuscript has never been published or under the consideration for
publication elsewhere. A cover letter can be signed by the corresponding author on behalf of
all authors. Authors should also provide the name of 3-4 persons (as well as their work place,
contact number, and e-mail address), particularly those work outside the author’s institution,
whom they wish to review their work.

Title page: As Chiang Mai Medical Journal uses a double-blind review processes,
prepare your title page on the separate sheet. The title page should contain:
2.1 Title of the manuscript
2.2 The category of the manuscript submitted (original article, short communication,
case report, review article, letter to the Editor or miscellany)
2.3 A short running title of no more than 40 characters (including spaces)
2.4 Authors’ names, their academic degrees, and their present af fi liations
2.5 Name of the corresponding author as well as his contact information (mailing
address, telephone number, fax number, and e-mail address)

Main manuscript: The manuscript must be written in English. Prepare the manuscript
double spaced, one side only, and leave an ample margin of at least 2.5 cm (1 in) on all sides of
the page. A total of six fi gures and/or tables are allowed for each manuscript. We encourage
the authors to use Times New Roman with a font size of 12 throughout the manuscript. The
main manuscript should consist of:
3.1 Title: Provide title of the manuscript both in Thai and in English.
3.2 Abstract: For original article and short communications, provide a structured
abstract of no more than 250 words, using the heading of objectives, methods, results and
conclusions. For case reports, review article and miscellany; provide a non-structured abstract
of no more than 150 words. The abstract must be submitted in both Thai and English.
3.3 Key words: Provide up to six key words that re fl ect the content of the manuscript.
This will facilitate it being found through internet searches. Key words should be given
beneath the abstract.
3.4 Text: The text should be organized in the following order: Introduction,
Methods, Results, and Discussion, Acknowledgements, References, Tables and Figures.
Numbers that appear in numerical order should not exceed two decimal places.
3.5 Ethics: In reporting an experiment in human subjects or animal, authors must
provide in the method section that the study was approved by the ethic committee or its equiva-lent, in which the work was undertaken and that it conforms to the provisions of the World
Medical Association’s Declaration of Helsinki
3.6 Acknowledgments: Individuals who have made substantial contributions to the
study, but are not included as authors should be acknowledged. The source of funding support
must be stated.
3.7 Confl icts of Interest: Authors must state all possible confl icts of interest in the
manuscript. If there is no con fl ict of interest, this should be stated as none.
3.8 References: List the references in consecutive, numerical order, as they are cited
in the text. Use the Vancouver style. If the list of authors exceeds six, the fi rst three authors
followed by et al should be listed for those references. Abbreviate journal titles according to the

3.9 Table: Prepare the table in the Word Format. Each table should be on a separate
page. Give each table a number and a title. Number tables in the order of which they are men-tioned in the text.
3.10 Images and line drawing:
1) Black and white, or color images, and line drawings should be supplied as
TIFF, GIF, or high quality JPEG fi les to a minimum of 600 dpi.
2) Figure legends of the images and line drawing should be provided on a sepa-rate sheet.
Length of the manuscript:
The length of each type of manuscript should be as follows:
1. Original article: No more than 4,000 words, a structured abstract of no more than 250
words, and no more than 40 references
2. Short communication: No more than 2,500 words, a structured abstract of no more
than 250 words, and no more than 30 references.
3. Case reports: No more than 1,500 words, a non-structured abstract of no more than
150 words, and no more than 15 references.
4. Review article: No more than 4,000 words, a non-structured abstract of no more than
150 words, and no more than 40 references.

Manuscript submission |
Submit the manuscript via the web-base online manuscript submission at: http://thailand.
digitaljournals.org/index.php/CMMJ/index. After an online registration, the corresponding
author will receive a password that is needed for login to the system. Submit the cover letter,
title page, main manuscript, tables, fi gures, and the disclosure/confl ict of interest/copy right
form, each in a separate fi le.
Reprints
The corresponding author will receive 20 copies of complimentary reprints.
